KanREN Launches New Fiber Route, Strengthens Resiliency

KanREN has completed a new fiber route connecting Johnson County and Lawrence located near a high-demand transportation corridor, providing enhanced network resiliency for member institutions across the region.

The new route adds critical redundancy for the University of Kansas and organizations in Johnson County, helping ensure reliable connectivity and continuity of service. It also establishes a third diverse network path for Emporia State University, further strengthening the institution's ability to maintain uninterrupted access to research, education, and collaboration resources.

"This new route through De Soto enhances reliability today while positioning us to meet future connectivity needs across the region. The new fiber path went live today, June 4 and represents KanREN's continued investment in building a robust, resilient network infrastructure that supports the evolving needs of Kansas higher education, research, healthcare, and community anchor institutions.
