As a not-for-profit organization, KanREN is uniquely positioned to provide expertise and services to further education, research, and prosperity in Kansas. At the local level, KanREN works with universities and community anchors to provide technical expertise ensuring the modern and secure delivery of network connectivity and other solutions.
As one of 40 research and education networks (RENs) in the US, KanREN has successfully designed and operated a best-in-class high-speed network within the State of Kansas. We work closely with state partners—including the Department of Transportation and the Office of Broadband Development—along with local infrastructure partners, community stakeholders, and anchor institutions to expand broadband access across Kansas.
KanREN’s membership and involvement with Internet2, The Quilt, the Great Plains Network (GPN), and the Fiber Broadband Association, provides members with access to high-speed connectivity, discounted licensing, and access to other IT services and communities. Additionally, membership with Nonprofit Connect provides resources for our staff and board.
